Default Q7 Tires

I have owned my Q7 since 2/07 and it has 16,000 miles on it. My tires are completely worn and I am in great need of new ones. I have spoke with the dealership and they informed me that that's completely normal and that's all the mileage that the tires are good for. I have spoke with the Continental dealer and have been told different. The tires should not have worn as quickly as they have. Has anyone else had this same issue with their Q7?

Sounds like this is a question for Inside Guy. I'll shine the light in the sky.

That shouldn't have happened that fast. I have several customers in the truck who are well over that in KM. I do realize that a mile is 1.5 (ish) further but still, you should be able to get 40-50 000 Miles I assume. What tire are you running? I will ask the boys in service how long they should last and we can compare. Most of my trucks are running on 20" Continentail 4x4 contact. 275/45R20. Is that your tire?

So, I asked a tech and he said that the tire would have a wear note on the side. The 20" Continential has one of 360. I dont know if this is Km or Miles, but it should be 36 000 miles or approx 50 000KM. Maybe you were over or under inflated. If so you would have lost a ton of gas due to this too. NO one really does it, but always try to walk the long way into your car. This way you see each tire and would notice if one were low. That being said, if all are out of tread, then maybe you drive like I do, a 25 year old guy?

We've had our Q7 since July 07 and it's got a little over 15,500 miles and already needed new front brakes done and will probably need new tires in the next few thousand miles.

The service guy at the dealership states that it is normal and what he's seeing from the Q7's that come in for service.

Alignment is a tough one. its hard to say when its going to take place. it often comes down to the orignal balancing of them. In my moms case, she clips curbs all day long wihch lead to a tire eating vehicle. Also, more and more car owners dont care about tire pressures. This lenthens their life drastically not to mention the fuel economy and comfort gains.

Default q7 s line tires

My Audi 2009 Q7 S line, (21" rims) has just under 16K miles. We were experiencing severe pulling to the right and took the vehicle in for service/alignment issues. This car is used mainly for transporting 4 little girls - no drag racing or off roading here.
and after a great deal of run around from my dealer, I am being told to replace the tires and that this is normal wear. I was also warned that the brakes will soon need to be replaced- Seriously????? Is this normal for a car of this caliber? Very disappointing indeed. I would welcome any comment or suggestions from the guys that know.

I also have an Audi Q7 and have done 22000km. My front tyres are shot and need to replace all. I too was informed that because of the size of the vehicle, the tire consumption is allot higher. I was told by some independent tire experts that I did well to get this much!! I was informed by the dealership, that directional tyres were not the best option for the Q&. Whether this is lip service I don’t know, but the car does tend to pull to the left a bit, despite the many alignments I went through. Am putting on 4 new tires today... We will see how long these last. FYI trying Cooper ZEON XST-A Premium High Performance 255/55R18 XL. It is a pity that the tires are the Achilles heel of the Q7, as it is a beautiful vehicle to drive!!

Thanks for the info Nick. I'm curious how long the new tires will last.

I also have a Q7 with a little less than 24,000 miles and am due for new tires. Like the rest of you I have been told by my dealer that this is normal and actually quite good. I have 19" rims which I am told is rare and expensive for tire replacement. Has anyone ran other tires other than the Continental factory tires? I would like to switch to a tire that is going to get better wear but have no experience with that.

Default Q7 tires

I have a 2008 Q7 4.2 Prem with 20 in tires. The first tires were Bridgestones and I got 24,000 miles and replaced the tires with Michelins Pilot S2. I now have to replace all four with less than 15,000 miles on the new tires. They were rotated, balanced and aligned four times in that period and the air pressure was checked constnatly. This exceeds Michelins recommendation yet the Audi dealer told me this is normal for a Q7. However, my front tires are wearing at a faster rate than the back tires (even with the constant rotation). I love this car but can't believe that I have to replace tires this quickly. I travel and drive about 24,000 miles per year on my car.

I have a 2010 Q7 TDI S-Line that came with Goodyear Eagle LS2 275/45/20. I have about 8000 miles on them and they are at 1/2 tread life. Regardless of tread wear, these are the worst tires I have ever owned. They reverberate over bumps in the rear so bad that my kids sound like they are sitting on a vibration mat. The handling is awful and Audi can't seem to fix the alignment from pulling the car to the right.

Fed up, I decided to bite the bullet and replace them. I went with 4 Yokohama Prada Spec-X tires and all my issues vanished. I have about 1000 miles on the new tires and the car rides amazing now. No vibration, no pulling and quiet as can be. The handling is also superior. I read that Audi is now fitting the Q7 with Yokohama Advan tires, but read they are really noisy. Plus, they are twice the price.

Last note, I was going to go with the 295/45/20 tries to get a better ride, but was concerned about the odometer and speedometer from being off. Even though, I can’t imagine the ride getting any better.

Thanks for the info. It seems everyone has had horrible stock tires on their Q7.

Default Audi Q7 3.6 2009

Similar case than the other folks here, I have an Audi Q7 with 14,700 miles and my tires are worn out. An Audi Authorized Service Center is telling me this is normal and we should get used to this "nromal" situation. My tires are Continental (factory tires) and size is 18".
I had a Volvo XC90 before for 6 years and believe me, is solid steel, heavier and driving that is like driving a truck. I changed the Michelin Tires only once for the Volvo in 6 years and after 30,000 miles.
On top of that the Service Center is telling me I need to do the brakes (full) next service appointment (20,000 miles?)
What's going on here?

Is there a class action on Audi for tire wear? I got a solicitation from a law firm asking to sign them up to represent me in a suit against Audi on 07-09 Q7 tire wear.

Default Q7 tire issues

My Q7 will be returned at lease end and I probably will NOT replace it. I have 19,000 miles and will need to put a SECOND set of tires on before March 2011.
I have also had bad luck with a rattle in my sunroof. Repaired 3x and still rattling.

Audi customer service is less than desireable.....
